The Story of Betsy’s

Downtown Laurel is home to a rich history of mom-and-pop shops, front-porch musings and good ole-fashioned home-town hospitality. Betsy is the name of a 1964 royal blue VW Beetle that was bought by David L. Sheppard. David has poured his entire life into investing in the education of children. He served as Laurel School District’s Superintendent for 20 years. Betsy has become a symbol of David’s unending love that he and his family have for the rich community that Laurel possesses. Betsy’s on Magnolia was created to capture the warmth, friendliness and inclusiveness that is unique to Downtown Laurel.
